A new trust fund titled “Arts Faculty Centenary Scholarship Trust Fund” has been established at the University of Dhaka (DU) to make the centenary of the university memorable.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts of DU Prof Dr Abu Md Delwar Hossain handed over a cheque for Tk 1crore to the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of DU Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman Tuesday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university to set up this trust fund, said a press release.
This amount has been collected from various internal sources of the faculty.
DU Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Registrar Prabir Kumar Sarker and Chairmen of different departments of the Faculty of Arts were present on this occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year 100 financially challenged students of the Faculty of Arts of DU will be given this scholarship.
VC of DU Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the Dean of the Faculty of Arts to set up this Trust Fund.
“The financially challenged students of DU will be benefitted from this Trust Fund. This initiative will play an effective role to achieve Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.
