99,977 poor families receive PM’s Eid gift in Ctg

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through video conferencing inaugurated the 2nd phase of the distribution of Eid gifts among destitute affected by Corona pandemic via mobile banking.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the programme on Sunday morning from Ganobhaban by connecting with Chittagong, Joypurhat and Bhola districts through video conferencing.  10 poor family members from Chittagong Deputy Commissioner's Office informed the Prime Minister about the benefits received through mobile banking services.

99,977 poor families are going to get Tk. 2,500 in Chittagong. And 22,000 families in Chittagong received the Prime Minister's Eid gift of Tk. 2,500.  The rest of the families will receive the money as a gift in the next 3 days.

In the recent lockdown since April 14, people from various walks of life such as transport workers, day laborers, rickshaw van drivers, construction workers, tanners, hairdressers, transgender, Vedic community, disabled and slum dwellers in 26,800 low-income families have received gifts from the Prime Minister.  

Pulses, soybean oil, sugar, potatoes, salt, soap etc. have been distributed.  Honorable Members of Parliament, political and business leaders of Chittagong are also participating in the relief work equally.  

The lower middle and middle class families who are reluctant to ask for relief in public can send SMS or phone the district administration and the district administration team will deliver these gift items / food items at night.

Chittagong DC is working day and night to ensure lockdown and health rules and distribute free masks among the people.  

"Our control room is open 24 hours a day for Covid-19 management and relief work," said Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman.
