Two more people have been infected with coronavirus in Kaliganj of Gazipur. In the last 24 hours, samples of 45 suspects were collected and sent to IEDCR. Two of the 45 coronavirus reports came out positive on Sunday night after the sample test.
A total of 93 people including doctors, nurses, employees and police personnel of the health complex were infected with coronavirus in the upazila. 87 of them have recovered.
On Monday morning, the member secretary of the Upazila Corona Prevention Committee and Health and Family Planning Officer Mohammad Sadekur Rahman Akand has confirmed this information.
He said that in the last 24 hours, two new coronavirus cases have been reported. Both the victims are residents of Kaliganj municipal area. However, 87 out of 93 people affected by corona in the upazila have recovered. The remaining six are in isolation.
On April 12, the first coronavirus patient was identified in the municipal area of Kaliganj upazila. After that Kaliganj municipal area was declared in lockdown by the upazila and municipal administration.
The next day, April 13, a corona patient was identified outside the municipal area. As a result, the upazila administration declared a complete Kaliganj lockdown. Since then, the number of corona cases has been increasing in Kaliganj.
At the end of April, the number of infected people in this upazila dropped to zero. However, no patient has died of corona in this upazila so far.
