865 homeless families getting new houses in Cox’s Bazar

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a total of 865 extremely poor homeless families are getting new houses with land in Cox's Bazar district as a gift of the Prime Minister.

Among the 865 homeless families 303 families will be handed over the new houses officially in the first phase by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kamal Hossain gave this information in a press briefing on Thursday noon.

It was informed in the press briefing that, to implement Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's directive, ‘not a single person will remain homeless in Mujib Barsho’, Tk 14 crore 79 lakh 14 thousand have been allocated. 

Among them, 303 houses have already been built with two rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom with a corridor at a cost of Tk 1 lakh 71 thousand already in the first phase. In phases, 12,128 homeless people of the district will get new houses along with land.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Amin Al Parvez presided over the press briefing while, Deputy Director of Local Government Department Srabasti Roy, former MP, senior vice-president of district Awami League Professor Ethin Rakhine and others spoke on the occasion.

Cox's Bazar Public Works Department Executive Engineer Zahir Uddin Ahmed, LGED Executive Engineer Md. Anisur Rahman, Executive Engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering Ritwik Chowdhury, Deputy Collector of Revenue. Mostafa Jabed Kaiser and DRRO Md. Jahangir Alam were present at the time.
