85pc students pass SSC in M’singh

The Mymensingh Education Board has obtained 85 percent pass rate in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.

Girls have outshined boys in both the pass rate and the number of GPA-5 holders this year like the last year. The pass rate in the education board decreased slightly this year as it was 85.49 percent last year.

Mymensingh Education Board Controller of Examinations Prof Md Shamsul Islam on Sunday gave detailed information on the SSC results.

He said a total of 1,19,238 students of 1,313 educational institutions took part in this year’s SSC examinations at 115 centres under the board. Of them, 60,612 are male students and 58,626 female students.   

A total of 1,01,358 students came out successful in this year’s SSC examinations in the board. Of them, 50,694 male students passed the examinations with 83.64 percent success rate while the number of successful female students is 50,664 with 86.42 percent pass rate.

The female students are also ahead of their male counterparts in terms of getting GPA-5 this year. A total of 13,176 students have got GPA-5 in Mymensingh Education Board. Of them, 5,962 boys got the GPA-5 while 7,224 girls achieved the highest grade point average. 

The Controller of Examinations further said Jamalpur district saw the highest pass rate (89.09 percent) under the education board this year. A total 80 educational institutions have achieved 100 percent success rate under the board while there is no institution with zero percent success rate.

A total of 1,22,872 students sat for the SSC examinations under the board last year. Of them, 1,05,047 came out successful. A total of 13,177 students got GPA-5 in the board last year.
