85 students get scholarship

In Bogura, 85 students from poor families have been given scholarship checks worth Tk 12,000 each. Scholarships are provided to Class XI and XII students on the initiative of Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK), a non-governmental organization (NGO).

On Monday morning, a check for Tk 12,000 was handed over to each scholarship student at the company's own office in Banani, Bogura.

Bogura Deputy Commissioner Md. Ziaul Haque was the chief guest on the occasion. Deputy Director of Bogra Social Services Department Abu Saeed Mohammad Kawsar Rahman, Executive Director of GUK Dr Khandaker Alamgir Hossain, Senior Director of the organization Dr Mahbub Alam and Director Pankaj Kumar Sarkar spoke on the occasion.

The children of the beneficiary members are selected for the scholarship under the loan program with the help of Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and Gram GUK. 

Dr. Khandaker Alamgir Hossain, Executive Director of GUK, said that they have been conducting this program since 2012 out of social responsibility and will continue to do so in the future. Those among the scholarship students who will be able to get the highest degree will be given job opportunities in GUK on priority basis.
