800 participate in Moulvibazar half marathon

A half marathon was held in Moulvibazar town on Friday morning. The half marathon was staged in two categories of 10 km and 21 km along the hills and greenery and tea gardens. Eight hundred men and women from different districts of the country participated in it. The organizers taken this initiative to attract the tourists of the district.

Moulvibazar Runners Club and Moulvibazar Cycling Community jointly organized the Half Marathon-2021 at the premises of Moulvibazar Municipality on Friday morning at 8.30 am. . Then the 600 runners in the half marathon started running. 

The marathon ended at Moulvibazar Stadium via Ecopark Road, Kalenga Bazar Road surrounded by hills, Deorachhara Tea-Garden Road, Chaychiri Dighi in Kamalganj. Runners were delighted to be able to enjoy the natural environment and the beauty of nature as well as take part in the half marathon.

Sajjad Hossain from Rangpur district became the first among the boys to run 10 km and he took 36 minutes to complete. Nasrin Begum of Sylhet district became the first among the girls, she took 55 minutes. Meanwhile, Asif Biswas from Khulna became the first among the boys to run 21 km. He took 1 hour and 18 minutes. And the first among the girls was Mausumi Akhter Happy from Dhaka, she took 2 hours and 4 minutes.

Mausumi Akhter Happy, who became the first among the girls in the 21 km race, said, "We participate in races in different parts of Bangladesh." It is good to be able to participate in Moulvibazar this time. The road selection was especially great, where I was able to enjoy the green tea gardens of the district and enjoy the beauty of nature. Asif Biswas, who came from Khulna and was the first among the boys to run 21 km, said that he ran to stay healthy. For this, he runs to the place where the race is organized.

Nasreen Begum, a girl from Moulvibazar district, who became the first among the girls to run 10 km, said, "I have not taken part in a marathon for a year. So far, I have taken part in 15 marathons and won 14 of them. Thanks to the marathon, I can see the whole of Bangladesh, it is a joy.”

Organizers Emon Ahmed and Sanjib Maitai said that the initiative is to promote health-conscious and race-minded people of the district at home and abroad.

Misbahur Rahman, chairman of the district council and general secretary of the district sports body, said the district sports body always cooperates in such events. Cooperation will continue in the future. Through this half marathon, the natural beauty of Moulvibazar will reach people from home and abroad. At the same time, he thinks that the tourist attraction of the district will increase.
