8 foreign-bound passengers identified with corona infection in Ctg

Eight foreign bound passengers were identified with corona infection in Chattogram. 

So far, 351 samples have been tested and among them 8 came positive said District Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.

He said registration at the Civil Surgeon's Office started on July 20 to 

test corona for foreign going passengers. 63 people were tested on the first day and 288 on the second day.

He said that one booth was set up on the first day for registration but one more booth was added from the next day. Passengers traveling abroad has to register at the District Civil Surgeon's Office by paying Tk 3,500 for corona testing. Later, samples were collected at two booths on the ground floor of the EPI building.

The collected samples were sent to the lab at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in Fauzdarhat of Chattogram.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on July 18 issued instructions to make the corona test certificate mandatory for foreign bound passengers. 

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare then designated 16 labs for testing foreign travelers.
