Chattogram district administration has announced an eight-day lockdown from June 23-30 due to an increase in corona infection rate.
The decision was taken at a coordination meeting of the district committee formed to prevent corona in the conference room of the deputy commissioner on Tuesday afternoon.
After the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mominur Rahman told reporters that the rate of corona infection in Fatikchhari is about 36 percent.
“Fatikchhari Upazila has been declared a lockdown zone for eight days from tomorrow due to the increase in the infection rate. Traffic in other upazilas along with Fatikchhari will be closed at this time. However, prayers can be offered in Jamaat in the mosque”, he added.
He further said, the health rules must be fully complied with. All hotels and restaurants and all kinds of public gatherings will be banned.
Apart from drug stores, grocery stores and raw markets will be open from 7 am to 11 am and from 3 pm to 6 pm. The local administration has been instructed to monitor the matter.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman presided over the function. Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Deputy Director (Local Government) BadiulAlam, Additional District Magistrate SumniAkter, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) SM Zakaria, Additional Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Masumwas present at the meeting.
