8 cyber tribunals working in country: Law Minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq said the number of disposal cases has increased as there are currently eight cyber tribunals in the country. A new tribunal will be set up to review the number of cybercrime cases in the future.

The minister made the remarks in response to a question from Bhola-3 MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury during a session of the National Parliament on Tuesday.

The minister said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina set up a cyber-tribunal in Dhaka for the first time in 2013 to settle cases related to information technology. Later, to increase the number of cybercrime cases, in 2019, seven more cyber tribunals were established in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh.

In response to another question from MP Mamunur Rashid Kiran, Anisul Haque said that in the 2018-19 financial year, in the case of one lakh 806 helpless candidates, a grant of Tk 4 crore 4 lakh 94 thousand 228 has been given from the funds of the district committee.

He also said that 3 crore 8 lakh 14 thousand 506 taka has been allocated in the fund of the district committee in the current financial year.
