72 patients get govt aid in Habiganj

One-time government assistance of Tk 36 lakh has been provided to 72 people suffering from various diseases in Habiganj Sadar and Lakhai upazilas on Saturday.

The Department of Social Services distributed the cheques among the beneficiaries at the Municipal Town Hall of the district town. Advocate Md Abu Zahir, MP from Habiganj-3 cobstituency was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

According to the Department of Social Services, 72 people diagnosed with cancer, kidney, liver cirrhosis, paralysis, congenital heart disease and thalassemia were identified in the two upazilas. Among them 60 were identified in Habiganj Sadar and 12 in Lakhai Upazila. A one-time check of Tk 50,000 was given to each of them.

Chairman of Lakhai Upazila Parishad Advocate Mushfiul Alam Azad, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain Rubel, Sadar Upazila Social Service Officer Saidur Rahman Pradhan, Lakhai Upazila Social Service Officer Afzalur Rahman and others were present as special guests at the time.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Abu Zahir said the present government is providing assistance by finding indigent patients across the country through the Department of Social Services. He urged everyone to abide by the government health rules to fight corona virus.
