7 held over robbery in Savar

Detective Branch (DB) of police have arrested seven men for their alleged involvement in a robbery at Ashula. The DB police arrested them by conducting several drives on Sunday night.

Mohammad Abul Bashar, Officer-in-Charge of DB (North), confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post on Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Polash Sarker, 26, Mamun, 33, Jahirul Islam Sunny, 26, Jakir Hossain, 30, Md. Jaman 31, Nasir Uddin Mridha, 27, and Jahirul Islam alias Jahad Ali, 25. They hailed from different areas of the country.

The police official said, ‘The arrested criminals  looted five bhori of gold and two lakhs and seventy thousand of Taka from a Gold Trader in Ashulia by hostage in face of weapon and escaped from the scene by exploding some cocktails, around 9:30 pm on November 03.

 Later, the victim filed a case with Ashulia Police Station over the incident.

‘After 7 days of the incident, we have arrested seven for their alleged connection with the robbery incident by conducting several drives at different area on Sunday night’, He added.

The arrested were produced before a Dhaka court.
