A week long fruit and tree fair begins with a slogan of 'Planned fruit cultivation gives nutritious food' at Zilla Shilpokola academy premises in Jhalokathi on Saturday. Amir Hossain Amu, lawmaker of Jhalokathi-2 has inaugurated the fair as chief guest. Jhalokathi district administration, Social Forest Division and District Agriculture Extension (DAE) jointly organised the programme.
However, different types of fruit saplings and fruits were displayed among the 25 stalls in the fair. Amir Hossain Amu visited the stalls of the fair at this time. Later, a rally was brought out from Shilpakala Academy, rounding the main roads of the town, it ended at the same place. Md Johor Ali, Deputy commissioner of Jhalokathi district, presided over the inauguration programme while Police Super Fatiha Yasmin, General Secretary of district Awami League Khan Saifullah Ponir, Sadar upazila chairman Khan Arifur Rahman, Nalchity upazila chairman Md Siddiqur Rahman, Barisal divisional forest officer Abul Kalam and Deputy director of DAE Md Fajlul Huq were also present.
