7 Covid deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered seven more deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Tuesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 27,785 with the latest figure.

The current positivity rate has increased slightly and the percentage rose from 1.80 to 2.20 percent. 

The overall positivity rate stands at 15.45 percent. 

The country recorded 469 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,566,296, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release. 

Among the seven deceased, five were men, and two were women. Of the deceased, three were from Dhaka, two from Chattogram, and one each from Khulna and Rangpur.  

A total of 21,308 samples were tested across the country till 8am Tuesday. 

During this period 697 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 1,529,068 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.62 percent.

As of Tuesday 4,923,476 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 242,001,046 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
