Consumers Rights Association conducted a drive and recovered illegally hoarded seven hundred bags of onion from a godown in Bhumra Bandar area on Tuesday.
A businessman was also fined Tk 45,000 in the connection.
Proprietor of Mrs Sristi Trading, Dipondar Mondal has been fined for creating artificial crisis of onion and price hike. The authorities asked him to supply those 700 bags of onion to market within 12 hours.
Nazmul Hasan, Assistant Director, Directorate to Protect Consumers Rights and Parvez Sharif, Agriculture Marketing Department, Satkhira Branch, were present during the drive.
