6th convocation of Northern University Bangladesh held

The 6th convocation of Northern University Bangladesh took place on its permanent campus in Dhaka on Sunday. 

Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, deputy minister, Ministry of Education, presided over the ceremony on behalf of the President and Chancellor Mohammed Shahabuddin, says a press release. 

Dr Mashiur Rahman, economic affairs advisor to the prime minister, was present as the convocation speaker.

Professor Dr Biswajit Chanda, member, University Grant Commission of Bangladesh, was present as special guest. 

Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury congratulated the new graduates and said that the present government has been specially sponsoring the education sector with the aim of building Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla.

He noted that NUB’s ongoing activities prove that it is a technology-driven, student-centric and future-oriented university. 

The university campus has all the facilities to develop students as good citizens and enlightened persons through the quality education, good environment and co-curricular activities.

Convocation Speaker Dr Mashiur Rahman congratulated the graduates who received their degrees and said that these graduates would represent the country tomorrow. 

He urged the graduates to play a pivotal role in building an ideal society, being inspired by the mantras of justice, morality and patriotism.

A total number of 3,732 students were awarded graduation and post-graduation degrees and gold medals to eight students for outstanding results at the convocation. 

Among others, Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah, chairman, Northern University Bangladesh Trust, spoke and he said that the knowledge acquired from the university should not be limited to the certificate and should be devoted to build the nation.

Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, vice-chancellor, NUB, called upon the students to become good human being as well as devote themselves to the welfare of the society and the people of the country.

Professor Dr Nazrul Islam, pro-vice chancellor, NUB, thanked the president of the event, convocation speaker, special guests, members of the Board of Trustees, deans of various faculties, teachers, officers, employees, journalists and law enforcing agencies for the smooth completion of the 6th Convocation ceremony of the university were present. 

Commodore M Monirul Islam (Retd), registrar, NUB, conducted the convocation ceremony.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of various universities, vice-chancellors, academicians, journalists and eminent scholars from different levels of the society were present in the convocation ceremony.
