A total of 614 bags of counterfeit TSP (Triple Super Phosphate) fertiliser were destroyed by burial at the municipal dumping ground in Ulipur, Kurigram on Wednesday.
This action was carried out in accordance with a decision by the Upazila Fertiliser and Seed Monitoring Committee. The destruction began at 3:00 PM, overseen by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nayan Kumar Saha, who had previously seized the fake fertiliser through a mobile court.
Present at the site were Upazila Agriculture Officer and Agronomist Mosharraf Hossain, Additional Agriculture Officer Afroza Parvin Rifa, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers Mostafa Kamal and Shahedur Rahman, Sub-Assistant Plant Protection Officer Tapan Kumar Singh, Senior Fisheries Officer Swamima Akter, and Department of Environment Officer Asif Shahriar.
It is noteworthy that the mobile court had earlier seized 135 bags of fake fertiliser from the house of Rowshan Ali, proprietor of Bhai Bhai Traders, 196 bags from Mahbubur Rahman’s house, and 283 bags from a truck at Thetrai Union Market.
In addition, a large quantity of counterfeit fertiliser and seeds were seized from the residence of local businessman Siddiqur Rahman in Ulipur Municipality.
