Planning Minister MA Mannan has said that 60 to 70 percent people of the country use 2G internet.

He made the remark at a function of the Child Parliament at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Tuesday.

“We are working on 5G. The project approval has already been given in this regard. We are working on it. Admittedly, many are still in 2G. And the reality is that more people use 2G. There are many who can’t write, can’t read, they don’t want more. They don’t even need to,” he mentioned.

Mannan further said, “There are people in our society whose monthly average income is Tk 5,000. Again, there are many whose average income is five crore taka. Similarly, many are using 2G, many are using 5G. But we will not leave anyone, we will move forward with everyone. Our Prime Minister's motto is to build a golden Bengal with everyone.”

In the context of Facebook, he said, “There are many terrible aspects in social media. You have to choose and use it. We have no choice but to warn. The United States is also working to bring Facebook under control.”

Regarding child marriage, the Planning Minister said, “Child marriage is practiced in many countries of the world. However, many countries have reduced it. Child marriage is still going on secretly in our cities and villages. We have to protest against it.”
