6 pharmacies fined Tk 2 lakh in Ctg

Hathazari Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Abu Raihan raided six pharmacies in the city and fined them for violating the conditions laid down in Section 18 of Drug Act 1940.

 He conducted raids in different parts of the city from morning to afternoon on Thursday.

1 lakh 95 thousand taka fine was collected from these raids.

 Upazila administration said that Niha Drug House in Dewanhat area was fined Tk 20,000, Shatmul Banaji Hospital Tk 25,000, Nobel Medical Hall in Jubilee Road Tk 50,000, Fatema Pharmacy and Surgical of Chattogram Medical College Tk 20,000, Gazi Pharmacy and Surgical Tk 30,000 and Rabia Pharmacy was fined Tk 50,000.

 Lack of drug license, absence of pharmacist presence, sale and storage of physician samples, storage of expired drugs, tampering of drug packaging labeling, non-storage of drugs at proper temperature, sale of unlicensed foreign drugs.

 Hathazari Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Abu Raihan said a fine of Tk 1.95 lakh was levied on six drug stores in the city for violating the conditions laid down under Section 18 of Drug Act 1940.

RAB-7 Major Mehedi Hasan and his team assisted in the operation.  Salma Siddique, Assistant Director, Chattogram Divisional Office, Department of Drug Administration assisted as Prosecutor.
