Two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) clashed at Rajshahi University on Friday, leaving at least six activists injured. The injured were identified as Limon, Shohel Rana, Josim, Rashid, Maruf Parvej and Ikram Hossain Rion.

The injured were given first aid at the university medical centre.

Witnesses said an argument took place between Kamrul Hasan, a follower of RU unit BCL general secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu and Limon at the university Madar Bux hall’s guest room over a trivial matter that eventually turned into a scuffle.

At one stage of scuffle, Kamrul started beating up Limon indiscriminately in the guest room, leaving him injured on the spot.

Later, Limon’s followers from different halls gathered in front of the hall and locked into a clash with the rivals after equipped with weapons and sticks.

Contacted, RU proctor Professor Lutfar Rahman said The Bangladesh Post that “we have already settled the problem between the two BCL groups and police have been also deployed to fend off further trouble”.
