6 fake doctors fined, current nets burnt

A fake veterinarian has been fined in Baliadangi of Thakurgaon district. Meanwhile, in Sadar Upazila, fishing nets were caught illegally using current nets and the nets were seized and burnt.

Baliadangi Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Md Khairul Alam Sumon fined six fake doctors in Lahiri Bazar area of Baliadangi Upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

It is learned that Subash Chandra Sarkar, son of Gol Gabindra Sarkar of Bhandardah village in Dhantala union of Baliadangi upazila of the district, had been treating cattle in the area since 2008 claiming himself as a veterinarian.

Although he did not have any certificate of a veterinarian, he used to print visiting cards with the title of doctor before his name and opened a chamber in Futanibazar area of the upazila. 

A mobile court found medical  equipment and medicine bags on the back of Subash Chandra's motorcycle in Lahiri Bazar area on Wednesday afternoon.

During this time, huge quantities of antibiotics, diclofenac and ketoprofen, various fattening drugs including cow fattening tablets were recovered from him.

Baliadangi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Khairul Alam Sumon fined him Tk 5,000 for failing to show the doctor's certificate and carrying antibiotics and harmful drugs.

The mobile court later warned him to stay away from cheating in the name of medical treatment. Meanwhile, a mobile court seized 500 meters of current nets for illegally fishing in Bhulli river in Auliapur union and Balia union of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.

Later, a mobile court headed by Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah-al-Mamun seized the seized current net and set it on fire.
