A total of 530 genuine vegetable farmers in Chitalmari, Bagerhat, have been provided with free chemical fertilizer and various winter vegetable seeds. The distribution was carried out from the Upazila Agriculture Office at 10 AM on Monday (October 27).
Md. Sazzad Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and President of the Upazila Agriculture Rehabilitation Implementation Committee, was present as the chief guest and distributed the fertilizer and seeds.
Md. Sifat-Al-Maruf, Upazila Agriculture Officer and Member Secretary of the Upazila Agriculture Rehabilitation Implementation Committee, stated that the free chemical fertilizer and winter vegetable seeds were provided to 530 marginal and small-scale vegetable farmers across 7 unions of the upazila. This initiative is under the Agriculture Rehabilitation Program, aiming to increase crop production in the Rabi season of the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The distribution details are as follows: 200 farmers received 500 grams of winter vegetable seeds suitable for homestead cultivation each, 50 farmers received 200 grams of gourd seeds each, 100 farmers received 40 grams of brinjal (eggplant) seeds each,100 farmers received 60 grams of sweet pumpkin seeds each, 80 farmers received 40 grams of cucumber seeds each, 330 farmers received 10 kg of DAP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer each.
During the distribution event, others present included: Upazila Livestock Officer Agriculturist Ahmed Iqbal, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Agriculturist Md. Habibur Rahman, Upazila Engineer Md. Saddham Hossain, Upazila Primary Education Officer Achyutananda Das, Upazila Election Officer Ruman Hossain, Upazila ICT Officer Md. Faisal, and Statistics Officer Johnny Sarker, among others.
