51st National Cooperatives Day observed in Shariatpur

The 51st National Coo­peratives Day-2022 was observed in the district as elsewhere in the country in a befitting manner on Saturday.

The theme of the day this year is 'Philosophy of Bangabandhu, development in cooperatives.'

Marking the day, district administration and the Department of Cooperative chalked out elaborate programmes in Shariatpur district.

A discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner office under the auspices of the district administration and district cooperative department on Saturday morning. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Gazi Shariful Hasan addressed the meeting as the chief guest with District Cooperative Officer Abdul Qayyum in the chair. 

Additional Superinten­dent of Police Tanveer Haider Shawon, District Awami League General Secretary Anal Kumar Dey, Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Al Bidhan Md. Sanaullah, Assistant Commissioner of the Deputy Commissioner's office Md. Abdur Rahim, among others, spoke on the function.

The speakers said that one of the development philosophies of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was 'cooperative'. 

The present government is working for the development of cooperatives. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to build 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The government has taken various steps to build a developed Bangladesh. Cooperative organizations should play a leading role in fulfilling this goal of the government, they said.

On the occasion of the day, crests, saplings and loan cheques were distributed to local organizations and individuals for their contribution in various cooperative-based fields and three members of Shariatpur Municipal Dairy Cooperative Society.
