Comilla Universities (Cou) 51 students from 7 departments have received National Science and Technology (NST) fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology. It was confirmed on Tuesday through two circulars signed by Ratan Kumar Mandal, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
According to the notification, a total of 1214 students/researchers (MS 1204 students), Taka 6,50,16,000/- , MPhil ( 1st Year) 04 students = Tk 2,73,600/-, PhD 06 students = Tk 18,00,000/- in favor of 2023-2014 Fiscal Year, total for 12 months fellowship from July 1, 2023 to June 6, 2024 the students will get six crore seventy lakh ninety six hundred Taka.
The two categories are Physical Science, Biochemical and Medical Science. In these two categories, 15 from Comilla University's Physics Department, 10 from Information and Communication Technology Department, 8 from Mathematics Department, 7 from Statistics Department, 2 from Chemistry Department, 8 from Pharmacy Department, 1 from Computer Science and Engineering Department has been nominated.A total of 51 students who received the fellowship will get one-time 54 thousand taka.
NST Fellowship student Tanvir Ahmed Rasel said, 'Students often cannot do quality research due to lack of money. The fellowship offered by NST will help the students financially. Granting this fellowship by NST for new researchers is undoubtedly a wonderful initiative.
Abdul Awal, a student of chemistry department who received NST fellowship, said, 'I have researched Mexin in my thesis, on which I was given the fellowship. I am very happy to get the fellowship. This fellowship will help me a lot in furthering my research work.In this regard, I would like to thank and express my gratitude to my supervisor mentor Dr. Abdul Majed Patwari sir. This achievement would not have been possible without the guidance and inspiration of Sir.'
The Vice-Chancellor of the University expressed enthusiasm for the success of the students. A F M Abdul Moyeen said, 'Like other universities, the students of our university also have knowledge in practice is an example of coming under this NST fellowship. Research capacity of our students is increasing. May such success of students continue to increase gradually.'
It is noted that, since the financial year of 1977-1978, this grant is given to MS, MPhil, PhD level students and researchers studying/undergoing research in public universities/research institutes.
