Five hundred families were connected with electricity supply system in remote two char unions- Char Atra and Naopara under Shariatpur district. Deputy Minister for Water Resources Enamul Haque Shamim inaugurated the electricity connections made through sub-marine cables under the river Padma by clicking the switch at a function held at the playground of Char Atra Azizia Primary School on Saturday noon.
The function was attended, among others, by former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Jahangir Nagar University Professor Tajul Islam, Superintending Engineer of Palli Biddutayan Board Joynal Abedin, Deputy Commissioner Abu Taher, SP SM Ashrafuzzaman, AL President and the General Secreatary Sabedur Rahman Khoka and Anal Kumar Dey respecitively, wife of state minister Tahmina Akhter and UNO Tanvir Al Nasif. Palli Bidduth Samity sources informed, the char villages situated 6 to 7 kilometre away from the bank of the rivers were connected with sub-marines cables under the river Padma.
