Kotwali police have arrested 50 Jamaat-Shibir activists during a secret meeting inside a hotel in Badarpati area of Teribazar under Kotwali police station in Chattogram city late at night.
Kotwali police conducted the operation on the basis of secret information during a meeting between Al Bayan and Alif restaurant in Badarpati area of Teribazar at 11 pm on Monday.
Extensive preparations were made for the operation from the top echelons of the city police. A large number of police personnel raided the hotel. Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Jahedul Kabir said Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists were secretly meeting inside the conference room of Al Bayan and Alif restaurants.
Upon receiving the news, we raided and arrested them. I am checking and sorting. Action will be taken against them after verification and selection.
A local shopkeeper said that suddenly 4 cars of police came and conducted the operation. As far as I know, there was a secret meeting of Jamaat-Shibir. I think about 50 leaders and activists have been taken to the prison van. Police also arrested all the employees including the manager of the hotel.
