50 drug peddlers surrender to police in Kurigram

About 50 drug peddlers surrendered to police at an anti-drug rally, on the premises of Balarhat School & College at Nawdanga union of Fulbari upazila in Kurigram, on Thursday afternoon.

The drug peddlers surrendered in presence of Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kurigram Muhammad Muhibul Islam Khan. All the drug peddlers vowed to return to normal life, leaving illegal drug business.

Kurigram police arranged the anti-drug rally with Additional Superintendent of Police Menhajul Alam in the chair.

SP Muhibul Islam Khan attended the event as the chief guest, while Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police for Nageswary circle Lutfor Rahman, Fulbari Thana Officer-in-Charge Khandoker Fuad Ruhani, Shemulbari Company Commander under 15 BGB of Lalmonirhat, Subedar Harun-ur Rasid, Fulbari Upazila Awami League Vice president Shahajahan Ali Badsha, Fulbari Thana Community Police Chairman Mojibur Rahman and Fulbari Press Club president Abdul Aziz Mojnu, spoke on the occasion, among others.

Muhibul Islam Khan administered oath to the drug peddlers. In order to return them to usual life, the recognized drug dealers were received with bunch of flowers.

Tofajjal Haq and Mominul Islam, the drug peddlers who also took oath at the anti-drug rally, said that they put an end of their dark life from that day and would like to start a new and sound life with the family members.

An anti-drug cultural function was also arranged after the surrendering ceremony.
