At least 50 people were detained in Khulna city on Monday for not using facemasks. Besides, eight persons were fined with Tk 6,500. A regular mobile court detained and fined the people.
The mobile court conducted its drive on Monday morning at two places in the city to make the public aware of Covid-19 to check a possible second wave.Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Khulna Yusuf Ali said that the government has taken strict
measures to contain the possible second wave of Covid-19 and those who would be found without masks will be sentenced to jail.
On Sunday, the government directed people of all faiths to wear facemask while visiting places of worship, including mosques, temples and churches across the country.
Following the government’s order, a regular mobile court headed by an Executive Magistrate is being operated from Monday to ensure mandatory use of mask in the district from Monday. The decisions were taken in a monthly Law and Order Meeting of November held through online where Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna Helal Hossain presided over.
