50-bed CCC isolation center begins journey

The isolation center of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) started its journey on the south side of Laldighi in the city on Tuesday afternoon.  Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury as the chief guest inaugurated the 50-bed center set on two floors of CCC's library building.

 CCC Panel Mayor Md Gias Uddin, Chief Executive Officer Kazi Md. MozammelHaque, Chief Health Officer Dr. Selim Akhtar Chowdhury, Isolation Center Coordinator CCC Urban Health Project PA-1 Project Manager Dr. Md. MujibulAlam Chowdhury were present on the occasion.  Patient admission in this center will start in a few days.

 Dr. Md. MujibulAlam Chowdhury said that the 50-bed isolation center has 35 beds for men on the second floor and 15 beds for women on the third floor.  Already 11 doctors assigned by the CCC have joined.

 There will always be 10 doctors.  In addition, 12 paramedics, 3 pharmacists, 8 ward boys, 2 store keepers, 3 ward masters will be on duty 24 hours a day as per the roster.

 He said there is a plan to expand the isolation center after understanding the situation.  Then the beds and manpower will be increased.  Initially, free health care, medicine-oxygen support, food and all necessary protection services will be ensured to the patients who come to the CCC Isolation Center for treatment.  

There will be an ambulance service for transporting and transferring patients.  The CCC staff will collect samples from the center's patients, including corona, and deliver them to specific laboratories.  Complex patients will be quickly referred to government hospitals.
