A five-year-old child died of coronavirus at the isolation unit of Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital in Sylhet city on Saturday evening. The child is the son of a Chandichhara tea worker at Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj.
RMO of Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital Sushant Kumar Mohapatra said that the child was admitted to the isolation unit of the hospital on Saturday evening. He died shortly after admission.
He further said that the child had been suffering from liver problems for a long time. His family took treatment at several hospitals including MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The child may be infected with coronavirus from those hospitals, he added.
Meanwhile, 20 more people infected with coronavirus in Habiganj on Saturday, taking the total confirmed cases in the division to 77. Of these, 12 are in Sylhet, 14 in Sunamganj, five in Moulvibazar and 46 in Habiganj.
