Five Bangladeshi teenagers returned home on Wednesday night after serving two-years’ jail in India. The girls hailed from Narail district.
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) officials handed them over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Benapole Check Post.
In-charge of BGB camp at Benapole Subeder Shaheed confirmed the matter, He said.
The teenagers were lured to India with promises of good jobs half and two years and a half ago. But they were arrested in Kolkata for travelling without valid documents. Later, they were sentenced to two-years’ jail by the court.
“When they finished their jail term, the Indian authorities handed over them to Bangladeshi authorities. Later, the teenagers were taken to Benapole Port Police Station, said Mamun Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station.
