5 muggers held in Ctg

Kotwali police station member arrested five members of a snatching gang in Chattogram conducting raids at different areas in the city on Friday night.

Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mohsin informed the media about the incident on Saturday. The arrestees are identified as Saiful Islam Prakash Babu, 20, Md. Kafil Uddin, 32, Md. Jobayer, 20, Mamun, 24 and Ibrahim Prakash Mamun, 18.

OC Mohammad Mohsin said, the arrestees had been robbing rickshaws at night in different areas of the city. Locals caught Saiful and Kafil while snatching a man's mobile phone and money in front of Jamal Khan Kusum Kumari City Corporation Girls' High School on Friday night.

At that moment, two more snatchers escaped. The other two were later arrested based on information given by Saiful and Kafil. The OC added, Ibrahim was accused of snatching a woman's bag in the New Market area on Thursday afternoon. He was arrested during a separate raid on Friday while the looted goods were recovered.
