Agriculture Minister and Awami League Presidium member Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak said that 5 lakh saplings of 51 types of fruit and forest trees will be planted in Raojan upazila this year. Earlier, 20 lakh saplings were planted in the last 10 years.
The minister said these while speaking as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of 5 lakh tree sapling distribution and planting program this year at the initiative of local Member of Parliament ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury at Raojan Government College ground in Chattogram on Monday.
He urges everyone to come forward to plant trees, the minister said that people all over the world are now afraid of rising temperatures and climate change. The political leaders of the world, civil society, scientists are all calling for reducing the global temperature to save the earth, talking about planting trees in almost all forums. He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has turned tree plantation into a social movement in the country.
The minister also said that no force can thwart the election. The next election will be fair and beautiful under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said that BNP wants to create anarchy in the country ahead of the elections. These movements of BNP will be counted as terrorism.
