Five people, including women and children from both sides, were injured in a land dispute in Mirzaganj, Upazila. The clash took place in East Subidkhali area of the Upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Masud Rana Bappi, son of seriously injured Mohammad Abul Qasim (50), lodged a written complaint with Mirzaganj Police Station on Sunday.
According to allegations and local sources, Abul Kashem had a long running dispute with Ashraf Akon of the same house over land. Due to this, last Saturday afternoon, Ashraf Akon along with his son Saiful Akon and 4/5 people including Forkan came in front of Kashem's house and verbally abused him. Protesting against this, they hit Kashem on the head with the weapon in their hands.
Hearing the screams, her son Mehdi (18) and daughter Kohli (10) ran and attacked them, causing a clash between the two sides. Mosa Dulu Begum (42) and AH Majid (65) of the other side were injured in the scuffle.
Later the locals came and rescued them and took them to the Upazila Health Complex.
Mirzaganj Police Station OC (Investigation) Mohammad Humayun Kabir said, "I have received a complaint in this regard. Legal action will be taken after investigation."
