5 held with weapons in Bancharampur

 Police from Bancharampur Model Police Station have arrested five members of an inter-district robbery gang along with locally-made sharp weapons during a late-night operation in various parts of Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria.

Acting on a tip-off, a special police team led by SI (unarmed) Md. Kamal Hossain, SI (unarmed) Md. Hasan Uddin, and ASI (unarmed) Yusuf Gazi conducted the operation.

The arrested individuals are: Abul Hossain alias Mehedi (25), son of Idan Mia; Md. Sohan (25), son of Kayem Mia; Adil Mia, son of Sam Mia from Uzanchar Refugee Para; Md. Russel (37), son of Shahid Ullah from Jagannathpur Uttarpara; and Faruk Munsi (34), son of Harun Munsi from Muradnagar, Cumilla. Police recovered five iron machetes, one steel machete, one iron cleaver, and a sharp knife from their possession.

According to police, on 22 September at around 2 AM, the gang committed an armed robbery at Monowara Begum’s residence in Ward 6 of Bancharampur Municipality. They looted gold jewellery worth Tk 510,000, cash, mobile phones, and torches. A case was filed naming two suspects and 15–20 unidentified persons (Case No. 08(10)2025, Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code).

OC Md. Hasan Jamil Khan confirmed that legal action is underway and operations are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang.
