5 held with phensedyl, mobiles in Satkhira

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained five people with phensedyl and mobile phones, from the street in front of the BGB camp near Madra border, in Kolaroa upazila of Satkhira on Tuesday midnight. A private car and cash amounted to Tk 45,842 was seized at the time from their possession.

The detainees are identified as Iqbal Hossain, 42, son of Abul Hossain of Haradda village of Satkhira Sadar upazila, Ashrafuzzaman, 32, son of Shamsuzzaman of Katiya area of Satkhira town, Mostafa Kamal, 32, son of Abdul Wadud of Sultanpur, Sohag Hossain, 25, son of Abdul Haque of Dakkhin Vadiali village of Kolaroa upazila and Rasheduzzaman, 19, son of Mizanur Rahman of the same village.

Satkhira 33 BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col Golam Mohiuddin Khandakar said that on the basis of secret news that goods were being smuggled from India through Madra border, a team led by Madra BOP patrol commander Subedar Anit Kumar Kundu detained them. 

At that time, three bottles of Indian Phensedyl, 12 expensive mobile phone sets and Tk 45,842 were seized. The value of the goods, including seized private car and cash money is Tk 33 lakh 82 thousand and 442.  Later, the detainees and the seized items were handed over to Kolaroa police station, he added.
