5 dacoits held for hijacking truck-laden cattle

Even after changing the number plate of the truck six times, five dacoits engaged in snatching (hijacking) of truck-laden cattle heads were arrested from various places of the country by Natore district police. Both the driver and the helper of the truck were involved in the incident of snatching.

After snatching of the truck-laden truck with cattle heads, the gang of dacoits changed the number plate of the truck six times on the way from Narayanganj to Dinajpur, informed Liton Kumar Saha, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Natore at a press briefing on Wednesday morning.

SP Liton Kumar Saha informed on July 18, a truck laden with 16 cattle heads was hijacked at Boraigram of Natore. To recover the hijacked truck and the cattle heads, Boraigram thana started a massive operation in various places including in Pabna, Kushtia, Sirajganj, Dhaka and Narayanganj. By using information technology, police arrested two dacoit members-Farhat Hossain and Billal Hossain from Boraigram of Natore from Boraigram and Natore sadar areas on July 29 night. 

Later, according to their confessional statement, police arrested the prime accused of the case Fazley Rabbi from Kayemkola area under Boraigram of Natore and Abdul Awal son of Chan Mia from Daukkandi Taltoli of Comilla district and Babul Mia son of YeakbMia of village Paragram of Nawabganj of Dhaka district. Police is continuing the operation to nab two more absconding accused of the case. 

According to sources, on July 17 this year cattle trader Siraj, 42, son of late Abul Hossain purchased 16 cattle heads from Ambarihat of Dinajpur and was returning to Noakhali with the cattle in a truck. On the way, the driver and the helper with the truck in collusion with the dacoit gang members stopped the truck at Bonpara bypass area of Boraigram upazila of Natore arount 2-30 am and asked the owner of the cattle Siraj and the co-hand to push the truck from behind. 

While they tried to push the truck, the dacoit gang attacked and injured them and decamped with the truck by leaving the injured cattle owner and the cow-hand beside the road. Later patrol police rescued them and came to learn the incident of dacoity.
