5 BU students get int’l research grant

Reception has been given to 5 students of the Department of Geology and Mining of Barishal University who have received the L. Austin Undergraduate Grand from the American Association for Petroleum Geologists. The reception was given in a virtual program on Thursday night. 

The students who received the research grant are Faisal Ahmed, Hamida Akter, Mosa: Laboni, Md. Saiful Islam and Afroza Mim of the 2017-18 session.

Vice Chancellor of Barishal University Prof dr Md Sadequl Arefin was present as the chief guest at the reception. Chairman and Assistant Professor of the Department of Geology and Mining Sukhen Goswami presided over the reception Dr Dhiman Kumar Roy, Founder Chairman and Assistant Professor of the Department of Geology and Mining, delivered the welcome address at the reception. Provost of Sher-e-Bangla Hall, former chairman of the department and assistant professor Abu Jafar Mia also spoke on the occasion. The program was conducted by the lecturer of the department Muhammad Abdullah Salman.

Speaking as the chief guest, Prof Dr Md Sadequlul Arefin said, “This achievement of our students from the international level introduces our Barishal University to the international arena. I sincerely congratulate and wish these students success. In this way, our Barishal University has gradually gained national and international recognition.
