A total of 5,500 trees have been planted on the banks of Ichhamati River in Santhia upazila of Pabna with the financial support of Santhia Upazila Administration marking Mujib Barsho.
Santhia Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdullah Al Mahmud Delwar and Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Jamal Ahmed inaugurated the tree planting programme at 11am on Tuesday in the presence of Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Faisal Raihan.
UZ Chairman Abdullah Al Mahmud Delwar said everyone should protect the saplings planted on the banks of Ichhamati river only then is it possible to implement environment and bird-friendly greenery in the Mujib Barsho.
