The 48th death anniversary of the Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani was observed in Tangail on Sunday with various programs.
Professor Dr Md Anwarul Azim Akhand, Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University (MBSTU), along with the deans of various faculties, provosts, department heads, directors of student welfare and counseling centers, proctors, registrars, heads of offices, teachers, staff, and students, palced wreathe and paid tributes at Bhasani's grave at 7:30am on Sunday. During the tribute, members of the Bhasani family were also present. Prayers were held during the ceremony.
Subsequently, Bangabir Abdul Kader Siddique Bir Uttam, president of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, central and district leaders of the BNP, NAP Bhasani, Bhasani Parishad, and various organizations also paid tribute by placing wreaths at the grave to observe the death anniversary.
After visiting Maulana Bhasani's grave, Bangabir Abdul Kader Siddiqui said, while speaking to the journalists, that if Maulana Bhasani had not been born, we could not possibly become citizens of Bangladesh today. Without him, there would have been no Pakistan, and without Pakistan, there would be no Bangladesh. It pains me deeply to see the disrespect he has received. It is very distressing.
Recently, Bangladesh has undergone a significant change. However, if anyone seeks to bring about this change by disregarding and denying history, they are wrong. Soon, they too will face a similar fate, he added.
Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered nerd the grave of Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani to pay their respects from the morning. On the occasion of the day, the university was decorated with lights, and a week-long 'Bhasani Mela' is being held under the initiative of the Maulana Bhasani Foundation.
He further said the people of Bangladesh want democracy and voting rights. The reason for Sheikh Hasina's disgraceful downfall is that she did not respect people's voting rights. She did not allow people to vote properly. If people are denied their voting rights for a prolonged period, the future of those currently in power will not be good.
