Soybean oil is disappearing from the market with the increase in prices abnormally. Oil is seen in a few shops but the price is beyond the reach of the consumer. In the last seven days, 47,044 tons of edible oil arrived on four ships from Indonesia and Argentina. The Chattogram Port Authority has made arrangements on priority basis.
According to Chattogram port sources, 47,044 tonnes of palm and soybean oil arrived at Chattogram port from April 29 to May 4 in four ships from two countries. Of these, 21,000 tonnes arrived at Orient Challenge, 7,000 tonnes at NS Stella, 7,799 tonnes at MT Pride and 11,245 tonnes at Sanjin. The shipment of oil on the Orient Challenge has already ended. The process of unloading oil of the remaining three ships is underway. S Alam Group, City Group, Sena Kalyan, Bashundhara, Bangladesh Edible Oil, Super Oil, Meghna Group have imported oil.

Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Md. Omar Faruq said four ships carrying 47,044 tonnes of palm and soybean oil have arrived at the outer port of Chattogram in the last one week. Among the four ships, crude soybean oil was brought from Argentina by Orient Challenge and NS Stella. Crude palm oil was brought from Indonesia by the ships MT Pride and Sanjin. The unloading of oil on the Orient Challenge has already ended. The oil in the remaining ships will be released soon.
