46th Islamic University Day celebrated

The 46th Islamic University (IU) Day was celebrated on Monday with enthusiasm and participation from teachers, students, and staff. The day began with the national and university flags being raised at the central playground, accompanied by the national anthem. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah inaugurated the event by releasing peace doves and balloons.

In his speech during a discussion and cultural program held at the TSCC auditorium, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his commitment to achieving the university’s goals. He emphasized advancing IU in education and research, blending Islamic and modern knowledge to create a world-class institution. He also paid tribute to the university’s founder, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, and remembered all contributors to its establishment.

The event, presided over by the celebration committee convener, Professor Dr. Md. Alinur Rahman, featured speeches from faculty members, including Professor Dr. A. B. M. Siddiqur Rahman Ashrafi and Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin Miji. A documentary on the July-August Revolution was also screened.

After the inaugural program, a colorful rally led by the Vice-Chancellor paraded through the campus. Floral tributes were offered at the foundation stone laid by Ziaur Rahman. The Vice-Chancellor also inaugurated educational and research exhibitions organized by various departments. IU’s main gate, administrative building, VC bungalow, and key areas were illuminated for three days, with roads decorated in vibrant colors. The celebrations also included a fireworks display on Sunday evening.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed his commitment to making IU a distinguished institution by fostering unity and collaboration among all stakeholders. The day ended with cultural programs and festivities.
