At least 46 members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been chosen for the national award for their heroic contributions to the country. The nominated awardees would be handed over crests and certificates at a formal ceremony on July 16 at the BGB headquarters. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal would be present as the chief guest.
The government has announced giving the state award to the members of the BGB considering their sacrifices in important duties and acts of their bravery.
The awards would be given in four categories, sources said. Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, an official of the BGB headquarters, told the Bangladesh Post that the ceremony would be held on July 16 on the occasion of recognizing the BGB members for their outstanding contributions.
According to BGB officials, nine people would get Border Guard Bangladesh medal, 15 would get presidential medal known as Padma Medal, and two would get medal (service) for their contributions in agriculture, and 20 for President Medal (Service). Sources said that the each of the Border Guard Bangladesh medalist would also get Tk one lakh in cash and Tk one thousand to be added each month with their salaries for a lifetime.
President Medal of the President and Graduate Medal (Armed Graduate Medal) of Bangladesh will get one thousand taka in cash.
