The 9 Armed Police Battalion (APBn) of Chattogram has successfully recovered 41 lost mobile phones from various police stations across the country. This effort was part of an ongoing operation targeting lost mobile devices, bKash/Nagad fraud, online scams, cybercrime, and human trafficking.
The recovered phones were officially handed over to their rightful owners on Wednesday by the 9 APBn Commander, Additional DIG Mohammad Shamsul Islam Akand. The recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude and satisfaction towards the Armed Police for their dedicated service.
Speaking at the event, Commander Shamsul Islam Akand stated that the recovery was carried out based on general diary (GD) entries made by the phone owners. The operation spanned multiple areas and is part of a wider initiative that the 9 APBn has been undertaking since December 2022.
He further added that the Chattogram Division of the 9 APBn has earned a strong reputation for its work in tackling lost phone recovery, mobile banking fraud, online fraud, cybercrime, and human trafficking. Moving forward, the battalion will continue its efforts in cybercrime prevention, counter-terrorism, and anti-human trafficking operations.
Commander Akand emphasised the Armed Police Battalion’s unwavering commitment to public service and safety. He encouraged the public to utilise the official Facebook page of the Armed Police and the Cyber Team to seek assistance and report relevant incidents.
Several officers and members of the 9 APBn and its Cyber Team were present during the handover ceremony, reinforcing the battalion’s dedication to transparency and community engagement.
