A Khulna court on Wednesday sentenced four persons to death for killing a Madrasa student named Musa Shikder.

Judge of Khulna District and Sessions Judge's Court Md Mashiur Rahman Chowdhury pronounced the verdict in the presence of the convicts at the courtroom.

The convicts are Amin Sikder, Raheen Sheikh, Raju Sheikh and Nuhu Sheikh. The court also fined them Tk 25,000 each.

They were sentenced to another 10 years' imprisonment and fined Tk 10,000 under another section. Later, the convicts were sent to jail.

The court, however, acquitted two other accused -- Siraj Shikder and Jasim Shikder-- as allegations brought against them were not proven.

On September 20 in 2018, police recovered the body of Musa Shikder from Atharobeki River in Rupsha upazila of Khulna.

Criminals strangled Musa, son of Mustakim Sikder of Ilaipur village in Rupsha upazila, and dumped his body in the river following a dispute over a trivial issue.

Mukta Roy Chowdhury, a sub inspector of Detective Branch of police and the investigating officer of the case, submitted a chargesheet in the court on May 30, 2019, accusing six people.
