A Khulna court has sentenced four men to death and five others to life term imprisonment for killing a medicine trader named Firoj Sheikh at Terkhada upazila in the district.
Md Yarab Hossain, Judge of Khulna Additional District and Sessions Court, delivered the verdict on Thursday (March 18).
The death-row convicts are Farid Mollah, Misbah Mollah, Mortoza Mollah and Tutul Mollah of Ketenga village in Terokhada upazila. Besides, Mukto Mollah, Shahidul Shikdar, Selim Shikdar, Nasir Shikdar and Mehedi Mollah of the same village got life term.
However, the court acquitted four other accused in the case as the allegations brought against them could not be proved.
According to the case statement, the convicts attacked Firoj Sheikh with sharp knives on August 15 in 2010. Later, Firoj died at Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) while undergoing treatment.
