Four convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in Thakurgaon murder case have been released by the government under Section 401 of the Criminal Procedure Code. They were released from Thakurgaon district jail on Friday evening.
Each of the convicts has served more than 21 years and the rest of the sentence has been commuted.
The convicts are Labanu Barman, Majedur Rahman, Tofazal Hossain, resident of Thakurgaon district and Hanufa Begum, resident of Naogaon district.
Thakurgaon Assistant Inspector General of Prisons Amirul Islam said a total of 329 prisoners have been released from various jails in the country under the Act.
