Chitalmari police in Bagerhat have arrested four people on charges of gambling. Cash and two pairs of cards were recovered from them. Sub-Inspector (SI) Amit Kumar Mandal has filed a case under the Gambling Act. The detainees were sent to court on Tuesday morning.
Chitalmari Police Station Inspector (OC) AHM Kamruzzaman Khan said Sub-Inspector (SI) Amit Kumar Mandal conducted an operation in the Kurmoni Wapda area on Monday (June 26) afternoon on a tip-off.
Milon Biswas, 42, son of late Pulin Biswas of Kurmoni village, Babul Bairagi, 45, son of late Gaur Bairagi, Jagdish Bairagi, 54, son of late Balai Bairagi and Golak Bish of Jhanjhania village of Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur district were arrested for gambling. Sanjay's son Sanjay Biswas (26) was arrested. Cash and two pairs of cards were recovered from them. Sub-Inspector (SI) Amit Kumar Mandal has filed a case against the arrested under the Gambling Act.
The OC further said that the police operation against gambling, drugs and usurers will continue on a regular basis.
