RAB-14 (CPC-3) has arrested four accused of Kamal Mia murder case under Bhairab in Kishoreganj. They were arrested from Bhairab Thana area last Wednesday. The arrested were Muktadir (24), son of Ohid Miah of Bhairabpur Uttarpara area, Farhad Miah (26), son of Marfath Ali, Sajan Miah (28), son of Ratan Mia, Ahsan Ullah (26) son of late Farid Miah of Kamalpur Panchabati area of the same upazila.
It is learned that Kamal Mia and Zakir Mia had a long feud with Oman and its allies. As a result of previous hostilities, on Wednesday dawn (February 2) Oman-led forces launched a unexpected attack on Kamal Mia and Zakir Mia with local weapons including machete, locally made spear and Chinese axe. The attack left them with severe bloody wounds on various parts of the head and body. After rescuing Kamal Mia and Zakir Mia in critical condition, they first took them to Bhairab Upazila Health Complex and the on-duty doctor referred them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Kamal Mia died on Wednesday afternoon while undergoing treatment. However, Zakir Mia's condition is still critical. In this incident a total of 23 persons including Muktadir, Farhad Mia, Sajan Mia, Ahsan Ullah were named in Bhairab police station and a case was filed against 4/5 anonymous persons (Case No. 04). When the incident caused a stir in Bhairab, an expedition team from Bhairab camp detained them from Bhairab Thana area on the basis of secret information.
RAB-14, CPC-3, Bhairab Camp, Company Commander Additional Police Super Rafiuddin Mohammad Jobayer said the accused named in the murder case were known to be involved in drug trafficking. It is learned that the killings took place due to previous hostilities. The accused have been arrested and handed over to Bhairab police station.
