4.67 kg gold recovered in Satkhira

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 31 gold bars weighing 4.67 kg from Kakdanga bordering area in Satkhira on Friday. The gold was seized while it was being smuggled to India. 

BGB’s Kakadanga BOP’s Naik Subedar Oliur Rahman, confirmed the matter. He said that on secret information, a BGB patrol team conducted a drive in the area in the morning and stopped a motorbike. The BGB men recovered the gold worth Tk 2.8 crore from a plastic packet kept on the motorbike.  

However, two riders of the motorbike managed to flee, he added.

The gold was later taken to the BGB's 33 battalion headquarters in Satkhira. Battalion Captain Lt.  Cnel Ghulam Mohiuddin Khandaker said the details would be given in a press briefing later.
